Case Horizonte, Chamela, Mexico

Casa Horizonte was inspired by Michael Heizer’s work, designed to disappear and meld into the landscape. The main roof extends from the landscape separating the earth from the sky while connecting the higher to the lower level. This holiday house is perched on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, on a 10,000 square-foot property surrounded by a beautifully raw and almost untouched landscape. The common living spaces of the home were designed to accentuate different features of its environment. The main living room is shaded under the floating roof, while the second living room is on the axis of the stunning sunsets. A third common area for gathering is on the roof, which was designed for star-gazing and celebrating the Cosmos. The fourth gathering area is at the edge of the cliff, which provides a picnic area shaded under a tree.
